The Port of Garachico, in the north of Tenerife, is located in an area open to the swell coming from the WNN-ENE arc. Its design has taken into account the breaking effect that high waves can have on the maneuvering of ships in areas of relatively shallow draft. It is protected from waves and currents by a 650-meter long dike. It has 160 moorings in pontoons for sport boats up to 15 meters in length, in addition to 40 moorings for fishing boats up to 8 meters in length.
